Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Phone holder broke my vent

How do I go about removing the vent?
    I'm pretty disappointed.

    It's the right centre one.

I'd take the whole surround out. Much easier then trying to fix it in the car or just removing that single vent.

yeah, I thought that was going to be the only way to get at it.

One of the vertical blades has detached on the bottom, I think it may be possible just to pull it back out and click?

Ended up taking some of the dash apart when all I had to do was pop out the vent.
Nevertheless it was a good learning experience and I fixed the vent anyway.

yeh you just have to get a screw driver on either side of the vent and push in and it comes out super easy!

I have to say that I have never been a fan of mounting things on standard vents in cars. It would be ok if the mount included the entire vent assembly.

It was a gift, not one of the cheap ones either.
I have since managed to figure out a safe way to mount it on the vent without damaging anything so that's that.

I wasn't having a go at you, just saying I was not a fan of them.
