So I have had an idea for a while but due to having no time and money nothing had happened. But today I found an old bed frame on the side of the road saying "free". Seeing as it's within my budget I took them and mocked up my new rack set up.
Now I just have to work out how to mount them to the roof racks. I have 2 planks spare so I will make some sort or frame out of them. Also planning on staining the timber so its a tad darker and classier than the look of the bed frame sleepers.
So if anyone actually reads any of this I'd be happy to hear some ideas on how to mount these..

run a length of timber perpendicular to the other slats (or parallel to the roof racks), at each point of the roof rack
fix all the slats to these
ideally should be able to get some stock roof rack 'U' brackets from any roof rack store that stocks thule, just need two for front and two for rear

Updade time.
Do I own the burgandy mk3 like the thead suggests? No
Do I still have the white VR6? Yes
Have I just bought yet another mk3? Yes.
So, why did i buy yet anothet mk3? Good question, I'm still wondering the same thing. I needed a reliable daily as all of you vr6 owners know, you need one...
Anyway. Its a 1997 2.0l, 5speed manual. And it starts. Which is more that I can say for my vr.
while my vr6 is clean it isn't exactly running. Has a VR6 load of starting issues that are driving me up the wall at the moment.
Starter motor is stuffed so I'm in the process of getting a new one of those. But it also (I assume) has a spark issue. Except it happens so damn sporadically I haven't been able to diagnise it properly. I have replaced the coil with a second hand unit I had lying around but my started finally decided to stop working all together so that's pretty much where I am at this point.
