Dad's had this car since late 2000, replacing his 81 Passat, bought it from Sydney with 90k on the clock, now has about 255 and is going strong, and as the Van is now sold it's the car of my parents that I can drive while I'm waiting for parts for my Volvo, has some major wheel alignment issues atm too, follows everything in the road, and one of the wheels is buckled still rather badly as it does it's fair share of vibrating, and the rear shocks are stuffed atm, but it's nicer then driving the van and it moves that's for sure.

As I'll be driving is I washed it tonight then cleaned the paint with paint restorer and then waxed it, and I'll have to get some more pics later, but it looks pretty good considering how sandblasted the paint is.

So anyone else feel the TDi love?

One day when dad eventually sells it and I have the money at the time I'll buy it as I know how rare it is, though I'd rather have a MK1 with a newer TDi motor, if this is there already hey, least it will make a good DD.

Also, are the front carpets on these one or two piece? need to replace the drivers side as boots have worn holes into it.

nice to see some diesel action... put some love into that thing though man! wheels and wheel alignment are cheap do them at the very least. and then stick some hottuning coilovers on it and dump it on its ass

Good to see. I would buy one of these babies if the chance ever came up. would be a great beater thats for sure. instead I'm looking in mk 1 diesels, mainly cause of the cost of fuel! hahah

Yeah, sadly parents are making noises about selling it now, even though things are going to be fixed up on it soon, drove it to and from work today and god it's a fun car, even with stock suspension, not as firm as my Volvo, but that's not on the road, and compared to the Transporter I was driving it flies as well, and is 10X more comfortable.

I've gotta persuade my parents to hold onto it for as long as possible as the engine hasn't caused any issues.

The car scrapes going up the driveway stock, so no chance of lowered suspension, while Dad owns it, but if I get it, it'll get lowered with VR6 arches and debadged grill and VR6 tails and bigger turbo/dp and remap. hehe.

Get's at the most about 7l/100km while towing a hovercraft, normally about 6 even with hard launches and that, not much slower then a VR6 in some area's as long as you keep on boost, but has half the fuel economy, and if I can't get that car I'll be getting a 1.9 or 2.0 TDi and sticking it into a Mk1 or Mk3 3 door....

Ewwww straight vegi oil? you need to buy basically new for that and it ruins the injector pump.

Biodiesel has been used in this car since we got it on and off as Dad used to make it and now we can buy it from a servo in Boronia. No modifications at all.

Took me ages to find my one. I am also in melbourne. I have started to add performance parts with really good results. Check out freds tdi site very helpful. So far my car runs on biod very nicely with no problems. Let me know if u sell it!

I stumbled on this one it looks sweet. If I didnt have a VR6 this would be my next choice for sure. I love the oem steel wheels for it.

saw on of those mk3 tdi's at newtown a week or two ago on king st i couldnt believe myself when i saw the tdi badge i didnt even know they made em.
