Yeah, it should from what ive researched. Cant wait for it to arrive so i can set it up..Wife and kids permitting. Im allowing myself a day to do this however in theory, all goes smoothly, no reason why it all couldnt be done in a few hours. As we all know, it never turns out that way

Shiftter housing with shifter and cables intact as well as the selector tower, reverse light sensor i sourced mine from a 2001 2.0L

For the reverse plug, you can source 1J0973792 or 020945415a. This will fit the mk4 reverse light sensor directly to that of the mk3. One has an oval end and the other rectangular

Polo 6N Tdi Gear (not sure if you can get tdi in Aus - to date, havent been able to track one down for wrecking but could be wrong, Potentially a tdi 6n caddy but donr know 100% if they have the same housing

          6N tdi shifter tower 6N0711061A
          6N base plate 6N711090A
          6N selector lever (arm) 6N0711061c

update, polo tdi shifter housing finally arrived on Thursday of last week. Transferred over the Mk4 cables and shifter into the housing which was a very straight forward exercise. I didnt take too many photos as they really are not needed. Your dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure out this one. I was surprised at how simple it was. Fingers crossed weather permitting ill be able out this weekend.

Keen to see how it mounts up and feels.
I got the mk4 one in mine now and feels great from the short amount of driving I've done.

Ive heard it is a good swap, feels like a new car when you drive. Not notchy like your typical mk3.. Its all ready to bolt in.

I'm going to follow this - just got myself a CTN box - MK3 TDI 02A with perfect ratios for a 1.8T build. Might as well do this while I'm converting from 020 to 02A.

Some pics of the mk4 internals transplanted into the tdi shifter housing. As mentioned, I didnt take any photos as far as removing the exiting and putting in the Mk4 is they are really not needed. It is a very straight forward process and took all of 30 minutes start to finish. One thing i did notice however is that the tdi selector bracket still needs to be used due to its curved edge. The Mk 4 is square and doesnt allow for shifting and reverse due the the height of the shifter tower compared to the mk4 housing....

That's all the cutting/adjusting to the car I did installing the full mk4 golf one

The issue isnt that it will hot the side of the tunnel, the tdi shifter housing eliminates this and any cutting of any kind as it bolts direclty into the mk3 VR6 transmisstion tunnel. Pretty sure the same for CL, GL. its the actual mk4 lever (the L shaped piece) that wont work. Simply ket the tdi one and no probs...

Bump..hi all, sorry haven't had a chance to update the progress on this due to bad weather, other engagements, etc. I've spent what little time I've had changing the oil filter housing gasket (which I'm happy to report can be changed without pulling the front end apart) and also fitting a new oil pan and gasket last weekend. Finally no more oil leak. I was hoping to get to this this weekend however bring my birthday and also having my team the bulldogs in the NRL final, unlikely. I'm on annual leave in a week and will commence this and take pics..will keep posted....
