Hi all, has anyone run a Mk4 o2j shifter conversion on a Mk3 VR6 ? (shifterbox, cables, and shift tower from a mk4 5spd car) ? If so, what are your thoughts after doing so?
Supposedly gives far smoother shifting overall?
I got my parts the other day.
Mk3 shifters feel like a bag of dirty washing compared to the mk4.
Keep in mind there is about 3 variations of the mk4 shifter, some not as good as the others

I have a sneaky suspicion that one of the polo shifter boxes is a mk4 design but with mk3 mounts so you don't have to modify the tunnel to mount it up. Meaning you can more or less bolt it all in as a straight swap.
Don't forget you'll need the reverse plug off a mk4 harness to go on the linkage tower. Unless you don't like to see when you're going backwards at night...

Yeah, I've read somewhere the same, need a polo shiftier box and transplant so bolts straight in without having to re drill holes
