  • Dash lights gone!

Have been driving around with only the tacho side dashlights working so have been guessing my speed but now the right hand side dashlight is out aswell so i'm in the dark! are these things easy to replace or is it hard to get the dash out to change the globes?
    Cheers,
    mike

It's not hard. I'm not actually sure exactly HOW to do it, but I know it's not hard Does anyone know if there's any choice in bulb colour? I've been wondering if it was possible to change the colour

You have to take the light switch on the right outand the airbag/abs plug out to. Get the screw behind there and then there are the screws in the right air vent to. There is also a click on the left hand side of the cluster that you need to take out to, in all there are 4 screws and then the plastic case comes out followed by the cluster and then there are just two bulbs up the top.

You can change the colour but you then have to change the colours of the surrounding lights as they all light up green!

LOL...as I literally just replaced mine a min ago than I see this post. I have been driving in pitch black for a week until now.

            it's not hard a 10 min job.
Start from popping the air bag ABS plastic next to the sttering wheel with flat head.
Pop out the head light switch unit. You push in with screw driver on the side from where the Air bag plastic use to be.

Directly to the right of your to your radio, there is 2 piece of black plastic with a " half a bump" on each. also pop out with flat head.

now you should see 2 screws on both side of the big plastic trim which hold the cluster in place, remove that.

2 screws on both side of cluster, unscrew them.

now you "flip" down the cluster. ( you will know what I mean when you get to here)

Now you will be able to see the bulbs.

P.S. TRUST ME ...USE your OEM screw driver, Otherwise you will surely loose drop the screw in the dash. NOT fun fishing it out !!!

I got my bulbs from repco. I think I got ~20 cent change from 5 bucks for the 2 bulbs.

Let us know if Repco (or wherever you end up) stock the globes. For reference, they look like this (which is a cluster in pieces).

From memory the orange ones are 1.2W and are used for all globes EXCEPT the two that shine down onto the speedo and RPM dealies. Those two are grey and are 2W. They are Osram bulbs, or at least all mine are.

The bulb behind the heater panel is a standard glass push type bulb, like this one, but smaller:

There is a single bulb back there and it's a little fidly to get at, not hard, just fiddly.

On a side note, I got an LED bulb for the heater thinking it would be brighter, which technically it is, but the way the light is "ducted" through plastic behind the controls ment that it ended up much darker, so I got a normal bulb from the local servo instead.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Actually no. There are two gloves which light the guages. You do not need to unplug the cluster. Just unscrew the 2 screws on either side of the cluster, assuming you have taken the plastic surround off at this stage. I suggest using a magnetic screwdriver because you will (well I did) lose a screw down into the underpart of the dash. Once you have taken out those 2 screws grab the top of the cluster and bring it out towards you and down. On the top of the cluster you will see the 2 globes mounted on a white strip of plastic. If you cant undo them with your fingers (anti-clockwise) then use a pair of pincer pliers. Most of the time they are just loose or dirty and lose contact with the board. The part number is 47762 if the shop stocks NARVA items. I had to go to 3 auto places before I found them at an auto electrician.
                      Hope this helps.

Had to drive to Canberra last week at night tailgating people that were doing about the speed limit haha!
