I think it's normal, definitely doesn't sound like the timing chain has gone yet. It may be starting to ever so slightly go though but the sound sounds like it's coming from the opposite side.
Might also mention this was happening before new ignition leads too, so that didn't introduce the problem.

In this photo it's the plugs with the blue shielding on the cables next to the connector. They are bigger than all the other connectors.
*Ignore that it has the US headlight plugs. Other than that it's the same loom as I have.
Past - '95 VW Golf MK3 VR6
Present - '11 Ford Focus LW Diesel (PSA DW10C)
New loom installed as well as well as the rest of the accompanying parts. Was interrupted by sudden rain half-way through.
Was tight on space so could only stand so far back.
Happy with the result. Also have clear indicators on the front that were part of the setup.
Need some new rear wheel bearings soon.
Edit; Don't need new wheel bearing I reckon, have a screw logded into my tyre.
Second time this year
so...new car is on order.
Wondering what to do with this, probably sell it but I know not many people are interested in a VR6 that is auto. Would probably be good for a conversion.
(car is at least one year away so have to wait a while for it to arrive)
