  • Anyone replaced an antenna in a VR6?

    Hi Guys,
In the recent rain (yes it does rain in Canberra occasionally ) it seems that I have developed a leak through the antenna. Probably going to replace it with a new one and was wondering if anyone on here has done this? Can I do it without removing the headliner? ( GOD I HOPE SO!!!)

    Cheers
    Simon

I reckon you can just remove the plastic trims around the rear hatch opening then the headlining will drop far enough to get your hand in to undo the nut on the aerial base. Getting to the cable disconnect might be a bit harder.

Cable plug is only about 100mm from the base of the nut inside the roof.

I recently did the same to replace the rubber around the base, worked well

I did my head liner recently, so here is a photo.

See in the back of the photo, coming from the left if the power for the booster, coming from teh right is the antenna line itself. As people have said, both can be got at after popping off the piece of trim where the hatch joins the roofy bit... this bit in fact:

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Like i have posted on MK4 forum you do not need to remove the lining to change the rubber seal. Lots of silicone and it slips over .
              Trust me

I got this. Fuba antenna seal kit. Just slipped it over the top.

Search for fuba seal kit in google.
