You either need to pull the seats out, or what i did is u need to bend the console to come out of position. it will twist, etc..its pretty sturdy. If you was in Sydney, id give you a hand but unfort Brisy is a little too far away...from mem, getting it out was pretty easy, putting it back in was more fiddly as you need to bend and twist to get it in but it will come out.
If you want to pull the seats out ,
1. at the back of the seats, pull the little cap off where the rail covers are
2. Slide the rail covers off
3. At the front of the seat where the slide lever is, u will see a little pin, get a small flay head screwdriver and u will see a small raised section on the pin, push it down and slide it out.
4. Pull the seat backwards and it will slide out of the rail. (Watch out for grease)
5. Reverse to install

Unbolt handbrake and remove rear section with ashtray and it'll come out

exactly, don't understand why it wouldn't come out. did for me. reading back, looks like Stef didnt undo the bolts under the ashtray maybe??

I take it you gave up.. seriously took me all of 2o minutes ot remove, cut, fit and re install...

I did't see your reply about taking the seats out. Will give it a go. Might still look at getting these, I kind of prefer to have the holders on the side anyway.

Took out the passenger seat and it all came out easily.
Now starting to cut out the bottom of the console so that I can put the cup holders in.
So far I think I'm doing alright with it.

By some luck only using a saw blade, a drill, I managed to cut out the plastic in a way that the bottom of the cup holder snapped in tightly and one side of the mounting clip attached well. It's very sturdy with minimal aesthetic flaws.
I'm happy with how it turned out.

Not to mention our exchange rate is terrible now.

There are a few floating around eBay a little cheaper.
The door cards fit large frozen cokes well next to my fire extinguisher in that front pocket, it's the little drinks that I've had problems with.

Bit of a hack job but one of the clips near the cub holes attached itself firmly. The rest I glued in with some super glue.
There's a gap behind the cup holder at the end and wondering what I should put there to stop stuff from falling in.
Overall I'm happy with the result and it should hold small cans and take-away coffee nicely.
(I probably cut out more than I should have an got carried away but can't change that now ey)

I did it with a drill and a saw blade, I don't have a dremel or better tools so if you do, it would be heaps easier.
Did a sort of perforation method. Made holes, they using the saw cut along the line of holes.
