connect to the idle control valve directly to the air throttle body adapter/distributor.

you're blown up part was the connected between the idle control valve and the intake hose right? so find some nice new rubber hose from supercheap or some such place thats the same diameter, and run it between the idle control valve and your intake, thus "bypassing the old plastic box that once was....

      easy peasy.

Some kind of hose clamp would be required at each end I assume?

Yep, the silly bugger who started up and effectively blew up part of my car gave me two hose clamps lol
Going to a hardware store tomorrow morning first thing so i can get a hose to drive to mechanics...but i never thought of supercheap or repco..could try them maybe.

I wouldn't be going to a hardware store you'll probably end up with garden hose, go to Repco or Supercheap at least you'll get automotive quality hose.

Garden hose you say? Good guess. Didn't even go to the hardware store. My garden hose fit snug in the hoses on the car so they work for now. i'm finding a new part so it's all good..

              explosion solved.

dude..... I wouldn't be driving that car with a GARDEN HOSE in it... Get someone to take you to Autobarn, Repco or Bullseye and get the proper heat-rated automotive-quality part.

Whats wrong with the garden hose? Its probably tougher than the car hose, just think about all the abuse a garden hose gets in it's 5-8 year lifespan!

                    Good temporary fix mate!

Garden hose doesn't sit in a stinking hot engine bay all day though. It seems to go very brittle when exposed to heat from small aluminum cone shaped devices also

hahahaha lol yeh. Garden hose really doesn't handle heat well... considering that it gets up to and over 80deg in the engine - I wouldn't risk it.

I'd say it would handle a couple of hours max... if you really have to use it, please take some spare hosing where ever you go.

                          Your "emergency" garden hose

Consider what was going through this hose before and what sort of temps it going to be running. Use your temporary fix to drive to AutoBarn/Supercheap/AutoPro/AutoOne hell, most decent servos and spend $5 on about 10 times more hose than you need, cut it down and replace that garden hose.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

My hose has gotten cut from my front yard a few times for the production of cone shaped devices. They took less than a foot too, foolish fools.

Yeah I agree with hawk, buy a shedload of tubing and just keep cutting it down if you get it wrong, also it could probably be used for something else down the line, considering out cars are all now 10 years + even mine, the hoses are really starting to wear...
