  • Short Shift - Diesel Geek vs BM vs Stock?

    After some advice,

I have a B&M short shift on my VR6... can I say, dont go there, nothing but trouble...

Anyway, has anyone gone the Diesel Geek option? Any feedback or advice would be great, not sure if I should go back to stock or go the Diesel Geek .

    Thanks

I have heard bad stories about the B&M

Some of the parts break on it, they are not very strong, and I dont think they have the side to side reduction.

TMTuning also sell one which is quite cheap
        MODS- TOO MANY

ive had a dieselgeek short shifter in my vr6 for years now.
Its a must have for any vr6 i reckon.

Both B&M and the TM Tuning ones arent that great from all reports.

Got some more info on that Dieselgeek shifter? Mine is all stock and boring.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

it reduces front to rear throw by 35% and left to right by 50%.

Its how it should have been from the factory. Theyre actually modified stock shifters instead of being a complete replacement. Makes the shift feel a little less like rowing a boat if u know what i mean

The shift force required is a little more. But I think you will get that with any throw reduction. It just means you have to be a little more accurate when youre adjusting the cables though.

It has a sir-clip that keeps coming off, and when it does I am unable to select any gears, not much fun when your in the city during peek hour.

The B&M has no side reduction at all, forward and back yes, but side is standard, giving it a very unusual feel.....

                Avoid the B&M

Yeah, most American orders are done by having the buyer ship his shifter and have that modified, saving quite a bit of money.

I had a B&M in my vr6 and had no troubles? only just bushes wearing which created a bit of movement, but other than that its fine I dont see how a properly installed sirclip can just come off?
