Only intermittent... Where would the dodgy earthing point be though? Only indicators. flashing the high beams doesnt do anything.Current: 2007 Black Magic GTI - APR Stage 2, Carbonio intake, APR downpipe and catback exhaust, RNS510, Bi-Xenons, Custom Red Leather Interior, Tow Bar, Racks and Parking Sensors

sounds like yours is running open loop for some reason (essentially warm up cycle). I would be looking into MAF, O2 sensor and coolant temp senders to make sure that the car is actually running in closed loop mode after warmup.Originally posted by mb1907953 View PostHmmm that is quite confusing considering I'm only get 290-300. How do you know you have a vacuum leak btw?? My idle is smooth 90% of the time but every now and then it sits there hunting if the indicator is on. Must be a dodgy regulator in the altenator but surely that wouldnt cause such a massive decrease in economy? Or should I be looking into it? Where is the o2 sensor on these? Might pull mine out and check it.
A well groomed VR should be able to get 10-11l/100km I reckon.'07 Touareg V6 TDI with air suspension

Will give it a punt mate. Much appreciated. It does have extractors so would that effect the o2 sensor at all? Is there a way I can test the MAF at all? The car idles at about 900 rpm I think. Is that right or should it be more like 800rpm? Anyway, will be looking into it all. Oil runs a little hot at 100-110 but I just assumed that was typical VR6. Maybe indicative of the open loop issue?Current: 2007 Black Magic GTI - APR Stage 2, Carbonio intake, APR downpipe and catback exhaust, RNS510, Bi-Xenons, Custom Red Leather Interior, Tow Bar, Racks and Parking Sensors

Short trips, cold engine, stop start and I'm sure listening to that glorious noise = bad fuel consumption. Mine could easily get that high if I ONLY drove to and from the train station at full noiseOriginally posted by mb1907953 View Post15.1L/ 100km

I average 13.11L/100km at the moment (fill up to full, odometer record method)
Only do short trips (some hills) with only once a week long trip.
Best fuel economy is achieved for me when doing 80km/h (according to MFA).

Good bump indeed! Just an update from the new owner of my vr6 - Took it down to Sydney and got the MAF down to 6.5 on the way down... Just goes to show how much of an effect a lead foot, short runs and hills can have on the fuel economy. I used to average about 12/13 per 100ks doing short trips to uni etc.
That was despite all my efforts to improve economy like a new o2 sensor, temp sensors etc etc.Current: 2007 Black Magic GTI - APR Stage 2, Carbonio intake, APR downpipe and catback exhaust, RNS510, Bi-Xenons, Custom Red Leather Interior, Tow Bar, Racks and Parking Sensors
