Yep sounds like it has 12v constant and only 12v from terminal 15 ( ign) as your secondary. The secondary for the VR should be red with brown trace from memory which is s contact for that.
Cheers

Cheers jimmy. I suspect it's something to do with my aftermarket alarm/ remote central locking that's spliced into the ignition wiring... Will have to pull it apart and try and figure out where everything goes.Current: 2007 Black Magic GTI - APR Stage 2, Carbonio intake, APR downpipe and catback exhaust, RNS510, Bi-Xenons, Custom Red Leather Interior, Tow Bar, Racks and Parking Sensors

My old GL had this same setup for the stereo, turned out both the accessory and battery wires were wired into the battery as opposed to the ignition and battery as should be.
The VR stereo will run until the key is removed alsoLast edited by SpeciP3; 19-04-2013, 09:09 PM.1979 Mk1 Golf GTi

Hahaha ok... Am I missing a joke here? Do you need it to fix the heatercore in or something??
Pulled apart the starter motor today! Cleaned up internals which were filthy and got rid of the carbon dust in the actual electric motor. Full degrease and then regreased and re-assembled. Will re install tomorrow and test run after I get the ECU back from Gav!Current: 2007 Black Magic GTI - APR Stage 2, Carbonio intake, APR downpipe and catback exhaust, RNS510, Bi-Xenons, Custom Red Leather Interior, Tow Bar, Racks and Parking Sensors

ECU fixed and chip in! Cheers to Gavin from Custom Code for his help! Learnt some priceless lessons about soldering and mucking around with microchips.
Still awaiting tyres and an exhaust repair. Sounds a bit 'tinny' when I load up the engine, does that sound like an exhaust leak or would it just be the extractors?Current: 2007 Black Magic GTI - APR Stage 2, Carbonio intake, APR downpipe and catback exhaust, RNS510, Bi-Xenons, Custom Red Leather Interior, Tow Bar, Racks and Parking Sensors
