Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

          i forgot to mention before,

after i lowered the car it now has a loud knocking/shudder when turn right, i dont think its the bearings but more to do with the suspension or drive shaft or something along those lines.

is there something i should check when i get my new wheels and figure out how the f*ck im going to jack the car up lol

What are your camber settings like? There are a few possiblities - most relate to the car being very low!
oh, and try jacking the front cross memmber up first, this should give you enough height to get a jack under the sill/subframe.

fitted the wheels up this afternoon, the fitment is spot on. could not be happier with the way it looks...

the problem is im rubbing a tad on my brakes, i think what ill do is just grind a touch off them and it should be sweet. i rolled the passenger rear guard and strangely enough the drivers side had already been done??

im yet to touch the front, ill have a go at that as well tomorrow.

oh and my front camber is as far negative as it goes

pictures (are heaps **** because of sunlight and phone quality):

The rear needs a little camber and it'd look the tits.

I started rolling the rear in preparation for the enkeis I was going to put on and then ran out of daylight that day and never got around to doing the others haha. That's why one was already done. Your welcome!

What I suspect to be the problem is that the end of driveshaft is rubbing on the gearbox flange. This is due to the play in the CV's (that allows the DS to move 'sideways') and the extreme lows combined with the max neg camber has the effect to push the DS in. (it's fixed at the wheel end, essentially)

Solution: well to prove the theory correct, raise the car and or pull out the camber. If this fixes it, then it's probably as described above. Permament solution is to mill down the end of the DS (by about 5 mm, also push the CV 5mm back, and the circlip groove as well) and then run as low and cambered as it.

How low is the car? Front of the sills/pinch welds and subframe?
