Sounds like a great candidate for a NRMA inspection and a REVS check.

Oh, and it's in Orange, not that I can say alot after catching a plane to Coffs Harbour from Sydney to look at then buy a Mk1

As for the Reco engine, there is nothing at all wrong with a reco engine if it's done right. Should be better than an old engine. Have to wonder why the old one was replaced considering the 250,000+ one other cars. hard life? or just unlucky? Especially in a car that specifically says "no performance parts". Did it used to have them all till it blew up What can I say, I'm a sinic at heart.

Have you gone out and had a look at one yet? Why not just head out and have a look at the local ones anyway, even in car yards if you can find them, Auto, manual, the lot. Have a drive of each so you can get a feel of whats what. It will help you pick the difference between cars and maybe pick up on things that are off. If nothing else it could be fun!

Car has had a front ender look at the grille its a 3 slat!

3 slat grill only came on gl/cl's. check to see if the heater is re-routed or just plugged up. 7000 doesnt seem too bad has it had the timing chain replaced yet?

yeah i no its a good price not sure if it has had the timing chain replaced cause if it was replaced the owner before him would have done it hes only had it for a year n done all the mods himself. its funny you guys say that bout the front bar cause when me n my brother looked under the hood we realised that a factory thin fibreglass piece across the front under the bonnet had been cracked my brother straight away said its had a ding...what do you think should i buy it?

i say get him down a bit more because you now know that it has been in an accident - even $100 is good. makes it $6900 and say it is a deal.

There wouldn't really be much to do that one if you got it - $7000 is pretty good for that car I say - just double check the aircon and the windows.

yeah the only things id be in a rush to get done is the touch up paint as well as the power windows ill mention that its probably had a ding
