fourseasonstuning.com just select your car and engine like you would on any of those sort of sites and youll see they have HEAPS of stuff for a vr6. the guy who i dealt with has or atleast at the time had a supercharged vr6 and was really very helpful, cant remember his name!
The guys name is James, really nice. Lost track of how much I have purchased from him in the last 7 years
Thanks for your inputs guys I dont think ill ever lose motivation its just my dad keeps nagging me about it telling that it not worth building it , but he cant talk guy used to own a 9sec Kjet gti so im just following his foot steps haha
anyways i just ripped the pistons out of the block just before and the piston skirts , cylinder bores , conrods look absulutely fine but since im going forged pistons and rods my mum asked if I could make PISTON ASH TRAYS for her so why not , so ill get them chrome plated for the guests.
I spoke to my machinest (SALIBA ENGINE RECONDITIONERS ) today and they said they are pretty busy but i could take the head or block one at a time so im going to start with the head.I will be buying my parts from my usual places such as fourseasontuning and bahnbrenner, ecs tuning.
also i decided to get VFengineering engine and trans mounts.
ap tuning gearsets cylinder head shopping list
also port and polish to gasket size and flow checked. after all of that the head should flow pretty good !
and after recovering from the costs of above i will start on the block god this is going to cost allot awells its worth doing when its vr6 heres a pic of my dirty block and piston
dont freak out this is after running it under a wire brush
ive got bent exhaust valves so I was thinking of oversizing the exhaust valves
Mate, i got the same idea for my vr6, however i do agree with pete!
keep standard sized valves as it will draw in the air quicker and faster at lower RPM to help you spool that turbo quicker. if you use oversized valves, you will make more power up top near the 5500-7000, however it will drive a like a dog down low around town. the gtx35 will give you more than enough power to handle at the front tyres. even if you run 245 tyres and LSD u will still slip and carry on.
my plan for my head is to reshave the head and make it true, run standard size valves and 260s or 270s degree cams with springs and retainers. i will also get it ported BUT NOT POLISH (NEVER POLISH PORTS) thats a myth, when polishing ports, it will actually slow down the airflow and also prevent proper fuel mixture. only port match and smoothen out the valve guides, so there is a small amount of turbulence to allow the fuel to mix with the air efficiency prior entering the combustion chamber.
Depends how much boost u want to run, the size ring gaps for ur top and second piston rings and driveability..........8.5 will lose torque downlow over the 9 however it will handle more boost up top. Speak to ur engine builder on their recommendations.....
Anything bigger than a gtx3076 its not useable on the street . With a gt35 you must be building a pure drag car or time attack car ?
Let me know how you go with the balance factor on the crank . Im always keen to hear what other engine builders use .
Id budget about 30-35k for a build using a base car doing everything properly . Cut corners expect things to break
Good luck .

Fark 35k for a mk3 vr6
There's a mk4 r32 turbo selling for 40k I would rather buy that
35k is having an APR approach to it, however i do agree u have to have deep pockets to attempt. Ive seen many workshops attempted and then abandon the project either due to lost of interest, short of funds or things arnt going their way...... If ur a true hobbiest, i would spend about 8-10k on parts alone and then 3-4k on head work( dont attempt this unless u know what ur doing and understand the risks) and then 3-4k on tuner time. If u run an autronic ecu with cdi, you should be able to do most of the tuning urself using their auto-tune software, just enough to get the car started.... Then u got dyno time.... So i wouldnt be surpraised if u hit 20k....

port matching might be a good idea for any head other than a 12v. never port match a 12v head!
