Quite frankly, its only a mk 3 Golf. If it was a scirocco, corrado etc, I could understand, but mk 3's are dime a dozen almost.
There's a whole thread in there.

I admire your passion for the mk3 shape, and it is one that I also find very appealing but bug_racer and others are right. The 12V VR6 motor just aint worth dropping the $10k+ to achieve what a 24V VR6 motor does stock, more or less.

You know I own a mk 3 yea..?

That reference was more directed towards rarity of VW models in australia, basically.

Although, I still don't see how turboing a VR6 would ruin the body? However this is off topic.

I think the OP really has to think about what he actually wants from his mk 3?

          Big power? Noise? Driveability? Undriveability?

Not wrecking the body, the car as a whole. VR6's are pretty uncommon, likewise mk3's; at least where I live.

I don't see turbo charging a VR as wrecking it!

Infact, it's improving it. It'll probably be around for longer because it's more unique and valuable

Hey I got carried away, but in time I think they will be more widely appreciated.
No doubt there are plenty now, (and I am not buying into the engine debate), but eventually Mk3's will be like any car, rare with a few rats.

There used to be a gazillion 1970's Beetes and Toyota Corollas around, but both are now rare, one valuable, the other less so...

There is nothing really special about your mk3.. to be perfectly honest its just a silver vr6 with wheels... just do the work to your current car!

Yeah they are uncommon in certain area's but thats like any car that only had 700 ish sold in aus..

This thread is kind of ridiculous. How is it wrecking a VR6 by turbocharging? Doesn't make any sense at all. Just because it's a rare car in Australia doesn't mean that a turbo would ruin it or whatever, it means it should be more of an incentive. You're saying that pouring 3 times the amount of the car's value into it to turbo it is wrecking the car.

Would you buy a turbocharged vr6?

Or buy one that looks like it hasn't it the drag strip every week?

Considering the cost of turboing one my self verses buying one someone would be selling for 1/3 the money probably spent, I'd probably take the vrt :p

Yeah I'd buy the VR6t too, and yes it would be way less than what's been spent! But if you've done a bit of work on your car, you're never going to make back what you spent. That's one of the main things about owning/modding a car, you do it because you love it not because you want to make money out of it. No point thinking about resale value on a mk3 Golf because you'll never win, so you might as well just make it how you want it.

This thread delivers the lols to get me through hump day.

How about just stop asking people's opinions on what to do with your car and do what YOU want with it
