This is just an idea after i saw a youtube video when some German put a r36 dsg into a mk3. I was just wondering how difficult it would be to bolt a r32 or a r36 engine in a mk3 and if its possible to make it manual ? not really sure if they even come in manual. Would you need custom engine mounts , drive shafts , gearbox adaptor, wiring issues + costs

I don't think the r32 swap is overly difficult, think the r36 is much harder though. As you wont be running the awd I think you'd need to bolt it up to a fwd transmission anyway so I think you would definitely make it manual.
I've never seriously looked into the r32 swap but have read things about it a while ago, really can't remember though. Hopefully one of the people who've seriously considered it (and I know there is atleast a couple on here that have got as far as sourcing the engine, but never finished it off) can give some actually helpful informationsigpic

As Ben said I think there's physical fitment issues with the 3.6
You can get the swap done for 5k.

They should just bolt up I'm fairly sure. If you're confident in doing work yourself, an r32 swap will probably make a much faster car then you would make from spending the same amount of money on modifying the 12v 2.8 VR6. Do a few little simple bolt on mods to the r32 and you'd have one hell of a quick little car that would probably destroy most of the heavily worked 2.8 vr6's out there. The most complicated thing will probably be all the electrical stuff, it would probably be easiest to run it on standalone. Mechanically it should just bolt in.sigpic

You would send the ecu to storm in the uk to get de-immobilized. Standalone is where it's at but. I have a megasquirt 3x with a r32 tune loaded if you actually I through with it. Standalone means you'll break 200fwkw straight away.
It is mechanically bolt in. I've had the block mated to my o2a with a autotech lightweight flywheel an vr6 clutch. Get a stage 2 or something a bit better then oem.
The front engine mount you need an 18mm washer underneath to lift it up. If you have motor mount spacers you'll be right for the washer.

Huh. Would have told him to get stuffed. Haha. I've never had that said to me an I've bought a few engines from wreckers.
You'd be able to get it covered by fair trading if something was internal broken as the conversion as no effect whatsoever on the product.
For fun facts:
Swapped mk3 r32 with a LSD will hit 12's. If your a good driver.

yeah his abit of a tight arse but ill work something out
12s u recon is that stock standard or turbo ?
i want to get new gear sets in the o2a aswell but im not confident in pulling it apart myself since ive done it once on my old gearbox when i lost my 1st and 2nd at the drags and chipped a tooth on a good gearhad to buy another trans for $1500
