  • Windscreen seal

One thing that is really annoying me on my MK3 is the front windscreen seal, down the bottom, is flaking off and really looks horrible. I was wondering if its possible to get just the rubber bit or if I need to replace the whole plastic/rubber front part. Where would be the best place to get this stuff from? any help would be appreciated.

From what I have been told (by Golf Loon) is that you can only buy the whole part for a small fortune.

The alternative is to pull the rubber part off yourself then pick up a length of appropriate rubber edging stuff from Clark rubber. Supposed to come up alright. Haven't quite got round to it myself.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Yeah, I thought it would cost way to much. I got some rubber from a windscreen place but it doesn't seem to sit flush on the windscreen so I might give clark rubber a go. Cheers.

When I got my windscreen replaced they tore it out.

You don't need it, and it looks much better without it.

You know the drill... Pics or Ban! Would love to see how that comes out since it's the FREE! alternative to actually fixing something!

VR6 and GL are the same.
You can buy em off VW for loadsa money or like the Hawk says, Clarke rubber will sell you a rubber strip with a groove in. Looks neat, keeps out water and is cheap.

When I had mine i just took the flaking rubber out. You dont need it. Any water runs out anyway.

hey loon, do you have the actual name of the product?

I went to clark's rubber at merrylands today, but the lady couldn't help me out. she said that one clarks location may not have the same stock as another.

I got some duct tape and sealed it up, but if what you are saying is correct and you don't need it, I might just do without.
