  • Seized Wheel Stud on VR6

OK Guys this happenned to us at work today and we spent hours trying to get the bolt out.

How do you reckon we did it?

I have some good pics of the process if you have some good guesses, I`ll post em up.

I have knocked impact sockets onto locking wheel bolts to get them out. I once had a short mate of mine shear off a bolt on his Passat doing it up.

I have some sockets best described as external easyouts for getting lockers off with.

So was it just tight or rounded off?

paddle pop sticks dipped in carbonite then coated in some sort of glowing kryptonite based paint?

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

This one was in really tight and rounded off by some monkey with a rattle gun the last time tyres were purchased.

We tried smacking sockets on there.

Drilling a hole in the centre broke 3 drill bits, a drill and ended with a snapped thread extractor tool in there!

Then we welded a bar to it and that didn`t work either.

I was all set to take out the strut and hub and have a hack from the back

Then Shannon had a better idea........

9 Inch Grinder vs Vr6 wheel

Then we cut the remnant in half along the bolt and smasked it off with a hammer.

The bolt then unscrewed by hand!!

You should have seen the guys face at the tyre place

                            Thats GOLD!

I would have said before the monkey rounded the bolt....

that you do the rest of the bolts up bloody tight and hope some of the pressure was taken off the stuck one...
