Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I'm pretty sure they were normally in 996 GT3s but I'm not 100% on that

Edit: turns out that I think they may have been an option on the GT3 and there was a cloth version in the GT3 RS

Edit x2 :-\ search 996 GT3 interior on Google and they show up in a few interiors. Id post a link but it doesn't want to work from my phone

I'll agree that they are reps, gt3 usually has it stitched into the seats and real ones are worth more than the car is

it'll be a bit quicker with the stock 15's back on it too

It may be the placebo effect.

But going for 17" semi slicks, to stretched 15"s the car felt like it accelerated twice as quick(mad wheelspin/torquesteer)

No its not. Its the simple science of rolling diameters, and the fact that the 15's will weigh a bunch less

This. Putting smaller wheels/tyres on has pretty much the same effect as changing the final drive of the gearing. Removing unsprung weight supposedly is the same as removing 10x the amount in sprung weight too, so losing a few kilos in the wheels makes a lot more different than losing a few kg from the rest of the car. If you go from a big heavy set of 18s to a small set of 15's with smaller overall rolling diamere, which are say 10kg less, you are practically gearing the car to accelerate faster, and losing 100kg.

I know it's shorten the gearing, but my wheels weigh twice as much(wheels+adapters)
