nice pics man, they look crisp! also the 3 looks nice and clean, looking forward to watching it progress if you're not sure, i recommend "Forever Black" to use on the textured stuff, its a dye, and after a few coats they come up new and it lasts for aggggges!

Thanks mate, not a professional by any means, but I do try
I wanted to try and see if heat gun helps restore some of it. If it doesn't, I'll go with forever black!

Used to follow your thread since the day you got it hey. After I got mine, went through all of it again. I live what you've done with it so far! Make a thread here too

Go for a heat gun for the spoiler and the texture trim around the sides works better than anything else.. will make it look brand new again i did it to my spoiler the other day and i was amazed! best thing ever.. Dont use it on door handles though, just textured parts spoiler and front lip.

Looks good though mate, i agree with mrVR6exy VR6 seats are a good upgrade and not hard to find or change over. Mk3's are the easiest front seats to swap!

ok, i'm assuming that works by slightly melting the plastic?? i'd also assume you'd wanna be careful not to remove the texturing?? looks the goods though! Food for thought if mine fade out again....

                    edit:
this is a comment from someone with a bmw? I wonder?
                    "
Tried it on my bmw. It turns gray after a few days or hours. Dont do it. Youre better off using other products like forever black"

I wouldn't use forever black. Personally the best method. Is getting it/DIY'ing a proper paint job on them

Why not? it's just a dye and has worked famously for me every time? Sure painting is cool, but this is far easier and cheaper and there's less chance of things going wrong....

I vote heat gun aswell, I did all my trim a few weeks ago and was the one who suggested it to a few other members on here It works really well. It doesnt melt the plastic or anything (just be carefull not to heat it too much) but apparently heating it up just gets the particles flowing in the plastic a bit, bringing the original non faded colour up to the top. I used forever black on my old car and it worked nicely too and lasted ages, but heat gun is my new favourite method now. Mine still looks really black, hasnt turned grey again yet.

Heres a 50/50 shot, about 1 minutes worth of heat on the right, untouched on the left:

Takes a lot less time then any other method

that's mean man, i'll definitely hit that up then

Hayden, maybe the prep wasn't good? I suppose there's a few variables as to why it wouldn't work as well.... This heat gun seems ace though....
