  • Golf (VR6) Functions?

Was playing with google and stumbled across this on another forum:

My 96 VR6 has taken to locking itself, about 1 minute after exiting the car and closing the door - when the immobiliser cuts in the doors lock too, even if the keys are in the ignition (Yea tried that one!) Its a recent thing, had the car from near new and it only started doing it a couple of months ago, following a flat battery. Coincidence? Anybody got any ideas please? How can I recode back to original spec? Anybody got full instructions for these units? Full sequence of events is Turn off engine, remove key, radio goes off, yellow warning light flashes 3 times rapidly and repeats, exit car, close door, red light flashes slowly, after 1 minute doors lock and windows close if open (as they should of course!) Everything else seems to be ok, interior light etc. PLEASE can anybody help before I strand myself somewhere I don't need to be?
What sounds interesting is the "Full sequence of events" where it talks about the windows going up automatically. While I don't want to lock my keys in my car, having windows wind up and/or door locking automatically sounds interesting. Is/was this an option on the australian Mk3?

I hear about the "options" that the factory (VAG-COM) can set on or off but I didn't think anything like that existed for the Mk3.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

that sounds like some sort of alarm hooked into the standard features.
our cars didnt come standard with an alarm. But if u hold the key in the lock in either direction the windows will either go up or down. was sposed to work with factory fitted sunroof too. But my dealer fitted roof doesnt do this.

My dealer fitted sunroof closes but doesnt open.

unfortunately there are no options that can be switched on by the VAGCOM in MK3.

You will need to re-program your alarm to disable this feature, any idea what brand you have as i might be able to help.

It was a post from another forum. The question was aimed at confirming that the Mk3's don't have any fancy features that can be turned on and off like some of the later models.
