Not much of an update but just wanted to post some recent piccies.
I was getting bored of my steelies so I tried to "spice" it up a little with some Mk3 steelie centre covers. Sounds easy but Mk3 steelies are 4x100 whereas my steelies were 5x100... so off I go experimenting again:

Did a dummy fit, using blu-tac to hold on to the spoke-holder parts that I cut off:

Doesn't fit on flush so it will need a bit more work...

... but it's gonna get a lot more harder making them sit flush... and I don't know if it's really worth it. What do you guys think? Reckon it looks OK?
Trying to retrofit those centre covers wasn't the only thing I did when I sorta got bored with my steelies:

Plan was to polish the face and black out the accents and run them for a while, but that also means buying new tyres AGAIN which I'm not prepared to go through... plus I have another wheel project that I'm barely finished with.
Also finally completed a thorough service, including changing the waterpump + thermostat + coolant (mmm, clear bottle and pink G12 coolant!), engine and gear oil change, and also cleaned and re-oiled my K&N. Car feels a lot better now and I can feel the 8V pull nicely again at 3-4k RPM! I've also lost the chatter sound I got when the car was cold
I love my car again!
Edit: Also, a pic of the rear-right wheel when the front-left wheel was on ramps:

That tyre was leaning against the rear bumper! I cannot imagine daily-driving that... yet you see so many American Mk3-ers roll around exactly like that!Last edited by rayray086; 08-12-2008, 07:20 PM.

Nice pick up, I had them on my watch list ... doesn't necessarily mean I had any to pay for them! They should look good on your car, and are they really completely new?Originally posted by rayray086 View PostThey're 17's
