New cluster doesn't have lights. Will need to fix that tomorrow too.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Air con was gassed half a dozen times today, had the TX valve replaced, tinkered with, but sitll no joy. The Air Con guy still thinks the compressor is bum. Unfortunate, but these things happen.

Loon is getting me a fully rebuilt compressor so hopefully I will have AC goodness in time for the VWW cruise. Nice.

Temps are still a little wierd, but after a little testing the car is doing everything it should so it looks like it may just be an issue of different guage reading a little different... Thermo fans are kicking it at the right temps so I will keep an eye on it and see where things go.

I also fixed the instrument clusters lights so I know just how much I am speeding now

I stumbled across this info on another forum and emailed it to myself today, but forgot the link. Will update when I find it again.

In short it says that thermo fans staying on can be because of the pressure switch on the AC. Since my system currently has no gas in it, it may very well be that when it does the switch is causing my high speed to stay on... We will see very soon.

In response to "Why are my thermo fans always on"
For me, this turned out to be the AC pressure switch. It's located just below the AC Drier on the passenger side of the car, just under the front bumper. Mine was cracked and needed replacing. Once I did that, all was good again. You can remove the switch without discharging the AC system, so you may want to take it out and look to see if yours is damaged. If not, I'd say it could still be that because I epoxied mine and it didn't help. One other thing it could be is the thermostat...but I'm not sure on that one. Check the switch first, as it's easy to get to. If you have a Bentley, its on page 87-14. L8z

My temps are a bit strange also, seems to hover between 85-90 most of the time but when in stop start traffic gets to 100+, maybe i'm being paranoid but should i be worried about this?

90 is where it is "supposed" to be, at 85 I wouldn't be worried too much. Last thing I heard was in a VR6 if it's not overheating it's all good

Seems to get a shade over 100 in heavy traffic on a warm day, was a bit worried that was a touch too high.

According to Bently the fans come on at:

                Low Speed Fan : 92-97C
                High Speed Fan : 99-105C

so your still in the "normal" range, consider that your also not getting any air flow, so temps are always going to be a little higher.
