  • So I Bought A VR6....

    Hi guys
Just drove my new car home, formerly Mr V's VR6 and its a great car. Thought I would start a little thread to document any changes I make to the car, bought it with the stock VR6 wheels and I am thinking of changing up to something along the lines of 16's as I do a fair bit of country driving so not going for something ultra low profile, at the moment I am thinking about Enkei EDR9's in silver but if anyone has any ideas about similar wheels I'd be glad to hear them. No pics at the moment as it rained the whole way home, but ill take some once I've given it a big clean. No other major mods are planed at the moment as I am pretty happy with the way the car is going, maybe a cold air intake and some headers in the not too distant future though.

nice, bet you had a massive smile all the way home even though it was pouring

16s are where its at on a mk3, design of wheel is a personal preference just make sure you go wide

Nice mate. I love this car. With the wheels he had on.

It is pure porn. One of the best mk3's on this forum I'm glad i know who it went to. Hopefully you treat it as well. Was the best buy for this price. Other than wheels, don't change this car please.

Thanks guys, it is super clean at the moment and no real mods planned so it will be pretty much untouched. Just a quick question on the wheels, I have found a set of 16's I like with an offset of 35mm, and I am pretty sure stock offset is 37mm, im fairly sure that these should work on stock brakes, anyone know otherwise?

                    stock offset is +43 15x6.5

really depends on the design of the wheel if it will clear your brakes

what type of wheel is it ? maybe one of the boys may be able to answer your question if you know what kind of wheel it is.

if in doubt its always best to test fit if possible

Ahh thanks for that, I am thinking of these at the moment http://www.ozracing.com/car_wheels_v...524/40386.aspx From tirerack.com 16 x 7 with a 35mm offset as I am having trouble finding wheels locally that aren't 18inch commodore wheels. I used the offset calculator and the result was 2mm more inside clearance and the wheels will sit 14mm wider than current wheels which seems good given the wider rims

                        that fitment will suit perfectly.

you should be able to ask them about brake clearance. they' should be able to give you some specs for it, and you can jack her up and just drop off a front wheel and measure it all out.

I get my wheels from japan regularily. there isn't much avaliable locally.

So small update, I have installed a short shifter and just go these wheels, so hopefully will get them cleaned up and tyres put on them soon, and then I will chuck up some updated whole shots!
