  • Subaru Wheels on VR6

    I noticed these while trawling:

My understanding is that Subaru have the same 5 x 100 stud pattern, although I'm not sure of the correct offset for the VR6. Can someone let me know what I should be looking for?

Now I'm not looking particularily at these wheels, they are just an example of Subaru wheels. The local place has said about $180/wheel + tyre for new rims if and when I go looking. Considering what it might cost to get my current rims repaired/resprayed, new rims aren't all that far out of the question. But first it needs more lowering.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Subaru wheels do indeed fit on golfs. My mate is a subaru nutter and when i showed him the stock wheel specs he said almost any wrx wheel will fit just fine.

After a few photoshop mockups, i dont think it would look half bad either.

Yes - I hear you. The golf was around before the rexy was!

They'll fit fine. If anything, it might sit a bit too close to the suspension, but I think it should clear it fine.

However, if you're looking for Subaru wheels, go for the multi-spoke ones!

this topic has been covered a couple of times. If youre looking at OEM wheels i believe that the centre bore of the subaru wheels can be smaller than that of the VW. So some may need to be machined out a bit? Id check the suby wheels with a vernier b4 committing to anything. Or if u have a mate with one test fit their rims and see what happens

Good point Tim. Just checked the "what wheels will fit?" thread and the Subaru's do indeed have a smaller hub @ 56.0 as opposed to our 57.1.

ray is correct - smaller hub @ 56.0 as opposed to our 57.1.

also you will need to check offset. on a golf ET 35 is what you are looking for. anything less and you'll rub your guards, anything more and you rub your calipers.

That offset is damn close to everything. The current wheels clear the calipers by about 2mm.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Just FYI, offset has nothing to do with brake clearance. Offset basically tells you where the mount face is in comparison to the centre of the wheel. There is no relation whatsoever to how much brake caliper clearance it has! That's basically dependent on the design of the wheel.

offset will affect brake clearance... eg i test fitted ET42 on my wheel for a celica fit vs ET35 (what I bought) and the ET42 didn't fit -

but yes, it is also dependent on the wheel design. but you will find that ET35 will in general fit a golf cos you have to look at the outer side as well not fitting in the guards
