  • Distributor 2.9 swap to 2.8 coil pack.

Hi guys, I'm taking a shot on this and seeing if you guys have any info.

From what I've seen on the tex is that.

    I'll need:

    Upper timing cover
Cam sensor trigger (mounted to rear cam on top of cam gear)
    Cam sensor
    Coilpack and bolts.
    ECU for OBDI coilpack
    Engine harness

    Things I'm not 100% on:
    ECU harness.
MAF - early OBDI VR6's had the hot wire, then they went to thin film (still OBDI)

Basically all those things. Now, what I'm wanting to do is put a distributor-ed 2.9 into my coilpacked 2.8. Now by having that list is it simply as straight forward as swapping it all over?

Or could I put my 2.8 head onto the 2.9 block and avoid all of these problems?

P.s mods move if they feel it will get better responses elsewhere.

    Thanks Hayden.

Swooping the head is quite complex and costly on a vr6
