Hawk, here's some of the pics of mine: http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c6.../cup%20holder/
Very useful and does the job. Only gripe is that it's not VERY supportive so when you take really hard corners or brake hard suddenly, the drink will pop out.

It's only 2 holes that you drill in. I use my side pockets for all the other **** I use, plus sometimes I have soft drink cans so that won't work really well there.

I have some matched cup holders in my door pockets, i would take a pic, but the light has gone here. There is no brand or part # on them
They take cans and maccas cups. You could also make them from fiberglass to fit the doorpockets too

I do a pic tomra Tmtuning do one that holds two cups in the center binthing.
As for the no lower passenger side glovebox cars, phone around the wreckers you should be able to find one from a 96+ car. 5 screws and its on!
I have two black ones here but i think you will get a better deal in Oz than paying for postage to get it there from NZ.

I like it! Thats even better than I was thinking since it folds up nice

Still very interested in playing with something in the ash tray, but that looks like it might be the go otherwise.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I think I'll put another on the passenger side door now too...

Anyway this was the standard American cup holder - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-JE...spagenameZWDVW
And this is the one I'm using - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/foldi...spagenameZWDVW

You can get them in a lot of colours, though black or navy blue are the only ones that concern us.

I've also heard of a the B4 Passat having a cupholder that fits neatly in a Mk3? I forgot how and where it goes on, but I remember it's something pretty hard to find.

The ask tray idea may be out... had a look thismorning and the clearance between the gear shift and the ashtray isn't a lot so I think it would get in the way.

I suppose there is always plan B... don't drink in the car n:

no picnic **** in my car!!

All my bottles get wedged in the door bit thingy. My wallet, cds and mobile go in the centre console so, so no cups there. Something for the ash tray would be good, theyres probably some aftermarket thing floating around?

those cup holders are pretty cool bsting.

I normally just use the doors. had a few spillages. I recall the american mk3's had cup holders in the lower middle console. just in front of the parking brake.
