Please assess my damages

I am in so much trouble..I deserve a spank !

Yep.....this is my gear stick and i snapped it, I was trying to extend the threads and eventually cut the shifter.

Can any one tell me what touble I have got myself into, except simply big trouble, even if I could get the stick replaced, is it possible for an amateur like me to install. If not I need to tow my car to a mechanic.

I also noticed that this thing is bent, did I also do that ? can I bend it back straight if necessary.

****, you must've forgot to support the stick as you were threading. If you've got another car handy you could possibly order a short-shift kit and install that instead: http://www.dieselgeek.com/Detail.bok?no=295 - the link also has instructions on installing the shifter, though I don't know how different it is to the standard one.

That should hold inplace for a few days. I may have to blind my eyes and unwillingly click the order button from diselgeek for a peace of mind.

But funny enough my second and forth gear has shortened... hahahah.. I think it is due to the fact that the shift cable was bent during the accident.

Excellent repair that one dude, gonna last a good year or more, just carry extra tyraps in the glovebox just in case. Not found that shifter yet.

as I said

that right, I am more of a knob than my shift knob.

also with my Heracle-tic force, literally FORCED the thread cutter.

My lesson learnt, never skip steps, take the savest route, worst of all I was actually warned !!

last thing,
can anyone tell me if it is necessary to straighten out my cable ? I suppose the cable is straight for a reason actually .... if I was to remove and straighten it out, how big of a job would that be?

Leave the cable in and straighten it mate.

Id grab it wit 2 pairs of grips and make it straighter.

To remove it you need the exhaust and the shifter box out. Not a fun job.
