yeh i agree steve lol
makes me laugh... why not be proud of your mk3!?! it's not a mk5 so why try and make it one?
I got some of those vents from the US recently, and i was wondering how to put them in.... i think i'll post a new thread on that though.
What are you doing instead Steve?! smoothed all over?!!?

I've looked at that mk5 facelift before and thought..*pukes*..but honestly, looking at it now, it's clean, it's updated....it's just not what a mk3 looks like at all
Oh and I'm not spoiling this one ahahah.Mrk Detailing, premium automotive detailing. Paint correction/protection specialist. PM me

Smooth Euro fronts are cool for the MK3. The only thing that MK5 front has that makes it more MK5 is the black centre and two tone front look.
Clean it up and all you have is a smooth front end with slightly different vents.//:MK3 Golf/2.0/15's/Stock Height/Smoked Repeaters/Mk4Badge/Alpine Head Unit

Hey Steve, I really can't wait to see what you do to your car next! No doubt it will be cool. Although, you stole my ideas!Originally posted by DubSteve View PostBefore I left I also did something for then that I had lying around for years and thought it would be cool lol, so I set up a air horn lol.

After that I crimped the wires and ran them to the red cannister to the pump system

I haven't got around to the second one yet. But I am sure that you are enjoying the horn as much as I am with mine. No more wussy "beep", more like a manly "HONK". Just a question, how did you wire yours up? Mine is spliced into the stock horn wires. Did you do the same?
Did you have any problems getting your rear calipers off when you were painting them? When I tried getting the rear off, one of the bolts holding the caliper and carrier on was so seized and tight, that I ended up stripping the hex; so I didn't end up painting anything.

I havn't even heard the horn yet, we charged the battery a little on the weekend and clamped it on turned on the power it worked and then tried to crank it over and it was dead lol, so nothing yet
As for the rears you have to take off the rear wheel bearing to get to it, but I didn't have any problems getting them out was quite easy actually.I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

Getting to the rear caliper is same as the fronts - just gotta undo the bolts that hold the caliper onto the carrier, then undo the bolts that hold the carrier onto the hub.
I had troubles with that before too Mark, ended up using a huge extender to break it lose! Lucky I didn't strip the hex bolt.

No worries James well on the weekend I made some more progress quite a good one I thought, started doing some interior parts and also did some more work on the engine itself, so I'll let the pics speak for themselves

Even wearing gloves don't help lol.

The extractor heat shield came off for some tender loving care

At the same time destroying my hand due to seased nuts, I actually managed to sprain my hand and also scratches on the backside
