  • Didn't gt much done today was hung over from last night and cbf.

Cleaned the engine a little and what I had done came out pretty good.

Exhaust manifolds are done and I will be taking the heat shied off to show them look quite good I think.

And the engine bay which is clean and I am happy with it now.

But this is why I have taken the engine out to do timing chains cause someone had ****ed it up previously..

I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...

      • Hahaha someone's silasticed the cover back on! Use a proper gasket or don't attempt it yourself. It's that simple.

Gees you're anal, Steve. Looking gooooood.

We didn't actually use a gasket for mine, as it doesn't have one. The instructions I followed said just to line the edges with new oil

            • isnt that part where the head gasket is sandwiched between the two sections of the timing chain cover? To fix that properly you might be up for a new head gasket? Its a silly design really

              • Hey Steve,

Have a look at these threads.

Looks like they replaced the head gasket at the same time they did the chains.

The guy that did your chains was probably trying to save you money, cause changing the head gasket isn't cheap on a VR6.

Power steering pump, no one is going to see it but I'm not leaving things half arsed!

Engine was a basecoat of satin black caliper/ brake spray, and then engine manifold gloss black spray. Due to the caliper spray being a igher temp we applied that first.
