0-50w is quite thin on a high mileage VR..... if you dont wanna break the piggy bank have a try of Penrite HPR10 semi syn (10-50w)

but if cost isnt an issue the fully syn Nulon range is my pick ( i ran the 10-40w for quite some time and was good stuff )

don't forget to purchase an extra bottle ( or a 1lt if available ) because your looking at 6lt of oil with a fresh oil filter

If Magnatec is your cup of tea, personally I use Penrite, Autobarn has it on sale until the 4th September for $24.99 a bottle (with a limit of 3 bottles).

So I went and got two bottle of magnatec from autobarn and while I was there I grabbed some pin stripping tape aswell. I've always had the thought in the back of my mind to kinda do a throw back to the old mk1 gti's with the red on black on white look, this is the result:

What you guys think? I'm thinking about doing all the badges red now to go with this theme, thoughts?

The red striping sets the car off.

I have had my red striping on for approximately 1 month and hasn't come off yet, gotta love 3M

So replaced the oil filter housing gasket, oil cooler gaskets, taped up the threads on the sensors on the housing and cleaned the crap off the bottom of the motor. Leak is now gone! Thnk god for that... The gaskets we took our were as hard as a rock and basically flat... Not really surprised they were leaking.
Next week I'll get the rear tyres done and most prob move what ever new ones i get to the front and put the current front rims on the rear. Get the rwc signed off and put it into my name... Will be getting a new gearbox mount from tim next week as well as mine is totally fubared and has leaked all the fluid out, fail. Then it's time to decide if I wana keep it or start modding it, still unsure about what I wana do yet...

I've been there, indecision kicks in around the time where you start questioning your own sanity after spending what you paid for the car to get it to run right! But then you start thinking well I kinda fixed everything now.....then the mods start! Its like a disease! I blame VWVortex as I only planned to use my car as a run around while I finished my 55 chev pickup. Now Ive sold the pickup and I'm STILL modding the Vr6!! Tried to cut it loose but I'm a junkie! Couple of hours staring at the mk3 picture thread on the vortex and I am all gung ho to do stuff again! And to think i used to prefer Audis!!

hahah, Don't worry I'm no where near spending what I bought the car for... Just unsure what I wana do, I mean tbh it really doesn't need much, some low, sway bars/strut brace and possibly some extractors. That would be the mechanicals sorted and then I'd start looking at body mods, things like headlights, vent lights, new front lip etc... I'm just gonna enjoy driving it for the time being and go from there

Had a look at the engine mounts aswell and they seem to be in good nick so I'll leave them for now... About it for now
