Hey all, thought I'd make this thread for my new car Picked up yesturday and I'm in love already. Tis a 1994 mk3 vr6 in white, stock standard bar rear bilstien shocks and some exhaust of some kind. Picked it up fairly cheap in the end as I have to get the rwc for it, basically just needs new front tyres (which are being done tomoz) and a power steering pump as the one on there atm is a little leaky atm and sounds like its on its way out. I've ordered a new pump off ebay and im hoping it'll be here tomoz so I can chuck it on on saturday and stop this leak/noise, then get the rwc next week. Ive alreaedy replaced the dash cluster light globes (one wasnt working so i figured do both at the same time), rear tail light globes (one was dimmer than the other and was almost completely black when I pulled it out and replaced all the little globes in the hatch wing light (fun job that was... not). There is one issue that I'm not sure where to start with, when I put the key into the passanger side keylock, the barrel came out with the key when i pulled it out, and it just turns side to side doing nothing obviously :| If anyone has any idea what has caused this and knows how to fix it, please let me know...

Basically plans for it are as follows:
    - xenon headlights
    - foglight bottom vents
    - tint
    - bilstien front struts to go with the rears
    - lowered springs or coil sleeve kit
    - sway bars of some sort/strut brace
    - possibly some other rims, not entirely sure yet
    - change the exhaust tip as I think it looks like poo

And that'll be about it, besides driving it and enjoying it immensely Here are the only pics I have atm, needs a damn good clean, cut and polish and some time getting the dirt out of the rims and then I'll get some better pics up..

thanks for the welcome! yeh it was the one on carsales, had to go back 3 times to be totally sure I wanted it lol Paint isn't bad at all, just dont think it has ever had a proper cut/polish/wax in a long time, so I'll get onto that sooner or later... One of my mates has a guy who comes to you and does the tinting, so I'll prob just go with that. Will be bringing to meets/cruises or what not in the future, hope to see you there

white looks good with the textured arches, gives it an old skool look..... looks like it came with a euro lip haha bonus .

            na that's ma bros 914.

yeh i was pretty set on it, just had to really convince myself that it was what i wanted to have in 6 months time still (i get very indecisive and that leads to buying and selling of car's fairly regularly). The lip has seen better days tbh, has two crack in it, obv from driveways or the like, anyone know where to get replacements? Wouldn't mind having a nice clean one on there

The car looks the goods but I'd advise against doing the xenons because it's illegal of you don't do it properly which cost about $2000 I'm pretty sure

So I went and got two front tyres today and a wheel alignment. Feels total different now with front end grip lol also it seems somewhere in this cars past someone has put those camber bolt things in as its running -1.5 camber, woot! Also picked up my new power steering pump, went to bursons to get new hose and alas they dont do the that size they also dint have the right fluid for it either, double arggg... So i guess ill reuse the fluid thats in there and the hose for now and get some new fluid and hose during the week... Will do the swap tomoz morning and hope for the best...

Nice buy mate, I'm sure you won't regret it.

1: Go with coilovers, they give you much more flexibility than just getting lowered springs.
2: Grab a new air filter, or swiss cheese your airbox. Sounds amazing!
3: Go to a local exhaust shop and get them to make you a cat-back exhaust with the tip of your choice.

                  Have fun!

thnx mate as i found out today the airbox has already been cut to allow air from the front. Also had a mega fail trying to do the power steering pump, seems the one i got isn't right, the pulley bolts dont line up arggggg so cars sitting outside with no pump and looking fairly sad. I'm waiting to hear back form the place i bought it from and if they have no solution I'll be getting a refund and getting the one that was on the car reco'd... Does anyone in melb know of a place to get this done?

ok after doing some research it turns out the pump is deff not the right one... i bought: eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d which as you can see has a flat face for the pulley and no indents in the round bung. The pump that came off is like this one VW $90 New Power Steering Pump for 89-95 Corrado VR6, 93-96 Golf VR6, 92-97 Passat VR6 Volkswagen and needs the indents as the holes are closer together and as you can see the part numbers are different... argggg and being a saturday i can't get onto the ebay guy to see if he has one of the other ones... fail.

yeh i got onto him, emailed off the spacing i need on the pulley bolts and hes gonna see if he has a pump to suit... he said had never had this issue and I said from what I've gathered the later date mk3's use the pump he gave me and the earlier ones use the one I need... at least that's all I can conclude from all this

ok crisis averted! So it turns out there are 2 pumps for the vr6, unbeknown to them as they have never had use this other one... So the right one is being couriered over night to my door and should be here in the morning! Should have my car all back together tomorrow arvo, I've already been having withdrawals from driving it and I haven't even had it for a week... This ones a keeper me thinks Also need to organize the rwc for it and once that's done i can't start with the modding!

Hazah! She lives! Well after a bit of an ordeal with this whole which pump is right business the car is now back together and purring along beautifully. Steering feels amazing now, tis and absolute dream to drive. Rwc is booked in for next friday and I have feeling they'll pick it for rear tyres, so I'll leave the ones on there atm and wait and see what they say. Took it for a spin before to make sure there were no leaks or anything and its all peaches. Can't wait to take it for a nice long cruise on the w/e, really test it's legs
