  • Help headunit troubles

    I have a 1997 mk3 golf GL
And i recently bought a new head unit.
And tried installing it myself. Big mistake !!
I cut the power wires off the harness just to see if i could get power running through it.
After trying everything still no good .

please guide me in the right direction.
    Thanks

Why did you even cut any wires in the first place ? The only time you even make a cut is when making the wires longer. You should've done some more research before even touching your car....

In any other case if they are not usuable you most probally have to source another wiring harness if your lucky.
Build and learn, not buy and earn.

The speakers should be easy to work out since they are colour + colour with white stripe, there shouldn't be many left to fumble through after that.

The wires are all colour coded so shouldn't be too big a problem if we can get a wiring diagram.

A quick google has turned up this:

      (Although I can't comment on it's accuracy).

You need a multi-meter and a 9V battery and you can quickly work out what is what

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
