Here are some pictures of her, as i bought it except for a wash.

First additions, Forever black/Black Spray paint, red striping.

    Ghetto masking.

    Next idea:

awesome Those wheels 17's or 18's? They look huge.

Goodluck with it I know my little vr6 has now taken over the little spare time I have left along with thousands and thousands of dollars... hehe

        Thanks ray.

They are 17's, that sit about 50mm in from the guards so hopefully I'll get different wheels with a better offset or some spacers.

I have about 13 weeks till I've done my HSC than hopefully mine can get all the free time too:p

i went and saw this particular VR when it was for sale on Parra rd a while back.... it was nice and clean but the dealer didn't wanna really play on asking price so i walked

its always good to see these cars being owned by people who appreciate what its all about

Oh what were your impressions of it back then?

It's been through one owner since then.

Apparently he paid 8K from that dealer.

yeah like i said it was clean and tidy..... everthing was working as it should and there was no sound of the death rattle ( timing chains )

this was about 12 months ago though... hopefully the last owner took care of it before it was sold onto you

                Partially...

The timing chain is stretched on it, I'll be doing that very soon.

can i ask what makes you think the chains are stretched ?

When I bought it the timing chain guide was fractured, or so was thought, so I took it to the vw specialist up here and he said it was stretched rather than the guide fractured.

                      that sux champ

hope you bought it for peanuts cause its gonna cost some coin if you don't DIY

mine has nearly hit 185kms and so far so good

can't argue if thats what your local specialist said, but i know if that were my car i'd be leaving it in the garage until it was sorted

                      good luck

Yeah, I got it pretty cheap, even with the $1500 dollar quote to fix it all it's still cheaper than most advertised.

I try to drive as little as possible, and never really rev it, especially on those start ups.

Thanks mate, I'm contemplating dropping it a bit more, I'll have to see.

I would never get a commodore, ever. They are basically the only car I see on the road in Newcastle.
