mine are the same offset as the subaru +43 or something i think HOWEVER, you need to make sure that the wheel is designed to clear bigger calipers like the VR6, thats the killer. i could be wrond but if you go for a 17x7 and something like a 35 or 30 im thinking you shuold be alright? you could go with a lower offset though you'd prob have to go a custom 2 or 3pc wheel $$$. . . even moreso, prob not the best option but jus use a 5mm spacer for the front so they will clear the caliper than your options are endless as the subie wrx's are everywhere! . . .
Take a look at my old car, tassie Euro's Vr6. The best lookin style of 17's on a VR6. Looks like they came out of the shop they suit it so well. Is true though. Car needs to be low to look good.

Got my rims back from repair shop, turns out my suspension has had it and my tires arent correctly load rated for the car, which means if i were to have a prang my insurance company wouldnt pay up! OH NOES!!!
So... getting new tires next week and new suspension whenever i can afford it!
EDIT: By suspension i mean shocks n springs. But I may as well get more hardcore bushings for it all too. Yipeeeee
