definately 2 gear syncro mate very common on 02a gearbox mate. The 020 in the mk2 gti was exactly the same 2nd gear always gets the most abuse!

Hell yeah ... abuse haha ... I should drive it with TLC my favourite gear is dieing..

how old is your clutch, could be that its time for a new one.. migh be very thin...

Don't think so Igor clutch is only 8 months old not even 10 000kms going to be changing the oil to Redline yum yum and see how it goes as I have no idea what and when the oil was last change. If it is a Syncro how much is that to replace?
