  • Indicator/Tow ring solutions on shaved bumpers

I'm very keen on shaving my bumper one day, but i still need my blinkers (Don't we all?).

    My Question is:
What's the best solution to a shaved bumper indicator you've seen?
And is there a law stating a certain height that indicators have to be off the ground in Victoria?

This is a great idea and on white it would blend in nicely
VWVortex.com - DIY shaved bumper and custom LED turn signals
But i don't have the skills for LED, that and i think I'd like to keep the mk3 to its vintage.

I've seen most people do this:
    1. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z...g?t=1257901053

    2. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...havedfront.jpg

And there's a DIY thread here using the side indicator.
    Any more?

Oh and what about the tow?
Is it important/illegal with out it?

    Cheers.

Another common one is to put some yellow LED's into the side of the headlight (as in behind the glass lens). Good opportunity to Joey mod them too
One of the local guys here did it that way, but can't find pictures of it at the moment (I'll search again)

In terms of the tow hook - I think you just don't worry about it, and hope not to brake down! Otherwise remove the bumper lol

you could get mk 4 look-a-like headlights (if you don't mind/like the look) and use an indicator spot, just like a mk 4 would.

Either that, or what something down in the lower grills I reckon.

that being said, what would need to be done bodywork/structure around the headlights of the mk3 and grille n bar to fit the mk4 headlights? or would they simply fit with maybe a need to get a mk4 grille?

              just be mindful of ADRs,
I believe there are regulations which relate to the angle and distance from which the indicator can be viewed.

Side markers obviously make this alot easier...

You wouldn't fit Mk4 headlights, it wouldn't work. He was talking about Mk4 look-a-like's, but they are still designed to fit a Mk3.
You could do a Mk3.5 front end conversion if that did tickle your fancy though

the look-a-likes actually do need brackets and minor body work...

Where are you getting this information from? All lights designed for a Mk3 bolt right into a Mk3. They wouldn't bring out lights that meant you had to make some custom brackets and modify your body for them to fit

it doesnt say you need to make "custom" brackets, on the ecstuning site it says you need european brackets and minor bodywork. im not arguing im just sayin...hence why i asked in the first place if it needed to be done as i wanna do it. so okay if you say they dont need them then sweet no worries

we have 'european' spec cars. that's for the american buyers. (since it's an american site afterall)

I understand what you're saying though.

Yeah, i believe Hella made genuine Mk4 look for the Mk3.

It''d be possible of doing a Golf R solution,

But instead of driving lights they'd be blinkers, of course.
Having LEDs sitting of the top part of the bottom grill, best to get some the length of the grille to keep it clean as possible.

I know one thing for certain, if i end going with indcators IN the lower grill, they'll be smoked.
If they poke out close to the bumper, they'll be white.
