I built a shield for my polo out of the stuff. About $90 for a sheet but its heat relfection qualitie is huge so keeps the pod nice and cold.

        Sweet.
How did you cut the metal... I was in local bunnings, the aluminium is ok but I have no tools to cut it + mk3 is harder as it needs to cut into shape of side wheel. I gave up.

I used a pair of tin snips not very expensive really and ull have it for life this stuff is a samwich so two very thin bits of metal with some sort of filling. Easy to cut.

I was thinking about just using a sheet of aluminium I have here to fabricate a shield, maybe line it with something too... we will see what happens when I get the energy to do anything.

In short free materials I already have here is good, and something, even just a sheet of aluminium will work better than nothing

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Got a new pod today, something to tide me over till I get the CAI bits and pieces and put that together. Sounds a little different to the old one, maybe a little louder, but then I don't see how.

Ground off the old mounting holes for the old air filter and have just used the metal ring as somewhere for the filter to sit. Next weekend I might shape the aluminium I have into a heat shield of some sort, might also add a little bit of rubber to the mounting ring so the filter isn't simply resting on the metal.
