The keep the spring compressed when you jack the car. At a low height, when you jack the car, the coil springs aren't long enough to stay compressed. When you put it back on the ground again, the coil springs could sit on an angle rather than straight on the top caps but because of the way the springs sat on the bottom perch, I never had that problem.

I'll send the helper springs in when I next visit the post office.

I find helpers to be actually quite the opposite of what their name would suggest. Stop you from going lower, get in the way if you have wide wheels, and the coilovers are so much easier to adjust when they don't have those springs pushing down on them. I took an angle grinder to mine while they were on the car to get rid of them without taking the suspension out and ****ing the alignment (:

Kinda dieing trends, but here's the smoked indicators on, and a bra or 'autoboobenholda' fresh from Germany, not a leather one though.

How much was the bra Joe? I recently bought one as well and I paid a little over $100AUD. I expected leather but it wasn't...

Yeah was about that too, was a bit disappointed it wasn't leather, but still has a nice feel and I can't complain about the fit, like a glove. Meant to be German made (no doubt with a stop over in China...but meh) so feels quality enough, and I wanted one with the two triangles. On a Vento the ones without supports would just look like a beach towel closed in the bonnet.

Also note, bonnet isn't shut because I still have to have a play with the catch before I shut it, bumper is currently unbolted and grill is loose, so the lines aren't spot on at the mo' but will be soon.

PM'ed they need some TLC, but aren't goners.

Also Koni Yellows with Eibach springs (for a Mk3 Golf NOT Vento...Vento-able with different rated back springs) will be available too (they're used, and need new bump stops... but are damper adjustable and are a nice ride, can PM photos for ideas of heights)

Ok need an opinion. We took my old Koni Yellows out of the Vento, they had matching run of the mill nut and bolt at the base, put in the coilovers, same deal normal nut and bot. Took some Monroe or whatever annonobrand suspension out of the colourconcept and the top nut (at the base of the stut) has a toe/camber ...erm...thing, its like a normal bolt with an oval section toward the head of the bolt. What are everyones thoughts on losing this? I.e. going from this bespoke bolt to just two standard bolts through the base of the strut?

Colourconcept killed it in the bends on its new Konis.

Ok, had a problem with my A8 reps, they fit fine over the more narrow earlier brakes, but not the later.

They do fit, but my solution was to dremmel just a chamfer on the edge of the brake pad carrier, this stopped it rubbing against the inside of the wheels, not the spokes but the fat part where it mounts to the hub.

So, time came for some new brakes again, and I was about to get my GIY grind on.

and I thought I'd take a different approach.

Was planning on refurbing them, but they are so mint that the damage is less curbing and more slight imperfections.

..and don't worry that's not right off the jack, the car will be lower... I've just never been a fan of the block under rim thing, and couldn't find a jack to put under the suspension. Really just a test fit for clearance.
