As I understand it the hot water out of the engine goes into the top of the radiator and is cooled as it flows through to the bottom of the radiator either from top to bottom or across in cross flow designs. Therefore it sounds to me like it is working just fine.

Yeah didn't realise it was new, I knew there were some leaks I thought possibly just the housing was new. Once the new pump is in cooling system should be pretty schmick (silicone hoses, new aux and water pump, new crack pipe, thermo and housing) should leak less than a marine's tear duct.

Cheers lads, need to conjure some time, money, space, patience, skill first but will try and finish this one and not sell as an unfinished project.

Indeed, I've done, and have had done, the mods I want to now. Have a rummage through this thread if you get bored, although the key mod, the engine swap, isn't really documented here. I probably have some left over Vento bits if you need something. As long as I have the car I'll never sell the wheels, grill, front lip, taillights and a few little pieces. If it stays around long enough, down the track I'd like to upgrade the coilovers and do some engine/gearbox work. For now my aim is OEM+ and roughly period correct, not a hellascene freak (as much as I respect different outlooks). Your Vento will outshine mine in no time, can't wait to see what you come up with.

I've learnt from a mate that THIS is how to buy cars, let someone else sink in the money and time on it as a project, and just do the final touches yourself to personalise it.... saves money and gets you into something unique and fun so much sooner.
