Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Firstly: watch 'Might Car Mods: Black' on youtube

        a must

How To Restore Blackness To Your Car - YouTube

        also...

        Some people use forever black

I've tried kiwi shoe polish and its ok but doesnt age well

lately I tried leather protector and it actually works, and doesnt leave a residue, but probably wont work for the really faded stuff.

kiwi polish works well, but there are plenty of designed products specifically for it..

Forever black is where its at. I tried a few things but none worked nearly as well. I also found a couple little spots of it I had got on the paint a few months later (they werent obvious at all on the blue, although on the white im sure they will be ) but they came off very easy with a squirt of a quick detailer and a little rub with a cloth, and when its still fresh it just wipes off. So really its not that much of a big deal even if you do get it on the paint. I'd do it, it makes all the difference. The car looks 15 years younger with nice black plastic and not faded grey

Thanks mate haha well I bought this stuff from supercheap auto which turned out to be crap. In the photos I blackened the bumpers about half an hour beforehand. It looked good at the time but it doesn't last long and leaves streak marks in the rain. When I can be bothered I'm going to sand them down and re paint them because it just seems like nothing works very well!

Well my mates decided to come "decorate" my car while I was innocently at home last night, pretty funny sight to wake up to:

Well that's what you get for having a quiet night in!

Also managed to fix my wet passenger footwells lately, cleaned drains under windscreen rain trays, resealed windscreen at the bottom thanks to clark rubber, unblocked aircon evaporator drain... And it finally worked. Yr. 12 exams are coming up soon, after that I'll be earning some $, and finally doing something with my still stock vr6

Thanks mate nah no p plate spec pod filter is in the goals coming up. Maybe Swiss cheese mod at some point soon. Yeah it's been ages, I've started in a new band and I've had to buy 850 bucks worth of bass equipment, mix that with very intermittent work and buying petrol and going out and I'm left with not much! But yeah finally going to start getting something happening

And nah I wasn't that pissed off, I just took it all off in 5 mins and went and dumped it in my mates front yard and drove off! Easy fix.

Also, does anyone know the best/cheapest place to get a decent euro lip? I checked ECS and it was a bit over 100 including shipping
