I know that bargaining can be good for you in the long run but don't expect to walk away with a sweet deal. I went and checked out a black VR in Manly about a month ago. Had 140000km on the clock but the interior had seen better days and the engine had just come out of repairs due to waterlogging, which was pretty sad. The owner was the 4th and had looked fairly after the car but it had seen better days and still had extra jobs needed to do on it. He wanted 5.5k for it but the amount of work that was still needed to be done was not worth it. We tried bargaining him down to 4.2k but he just wouldn't say yes, so we walked away. Rang him up 3 days later to Inquire again but found out he sold it for what he wanted.
Just don't risk paying far too much when it's clearly not worth it as you can't always beat a stubborn salesman!
