94 Golf VR6 - Sell or Fix

Can anyone help me make up my mind on whether to sell or fix my 94 Golf Vr6 with 200,000km on the clock. I'm looking at a few things to repair:

- All the rubbers, bearings and shocks in the front right wheel (and left wheel if doing it properly.

- Front driver's side window regulator broken.

- Small oil leak probably coming from breather hose.

- ABS light intermittent

- Coolant light intermittent

- Heater core bypassed (but don't care)

I'm thinking this would cost a few k's to repair... and looking at carsales it seems that vr6's sell around $6k so it doesn't seem worthwile spending so much on it...

The dark grey body is still in great shape... hardly no dints anywhere... and the engine still sounds/drives awesome.

If you know someone in Brisbane who could fix this stuff up for cheaper than $2000 let me know... Otherwise if anyone needs a good body or engine for a vr6 and would wanna make an offer on the car, let me know... I could send pics...

VR6s are becoming rarer by the day and I think they are a very good looking, unique hot hatch. I get loads of compliments about mine, especially from the ladies. Fix and treat it well!

I think how attached to the car you are will determine whether you wanna go through with making it a minter in your ownership or not. You can ask many of the people who own a VR on here and they'll tell you the same thing, for the price range there's not another car in the market that'll hit the spot like a VR6 does, and that motivates most people to just ignore their 'character' (AKA always finding a new way to empty your wallet, bank balance and if married, bed rights) and soldier on with it!

PM not received. Your list of broken bits isnt that bad btw, mine has had a lot more then that fixed / replaced over the last 3 years I've had it.

haha... too much encouragement guys... i'm starting to think that i should keep it as a project... has anyone ever changed their own shocks and control arm bushings? need any special tools or could i do it in my garage on a car stand with basic equipment?

Flush the coolant (and fix the heater if you like), replace the gaskets and the window regulators (buy new) all of which won't cost you too much.

Consider the suspension simply an "upgrade" and replace the lot

ABS is a bit hit and miss... removing the bulb will fix the issue you have with the intermitent light

yeah mate that list of probs isnt that much considering what most VR owners go about replacing on here especially. I cant see it costing you a 'few k' make it a learning experience do some stuff yourself.

O an i think iv only seen 1 dark grey vr on here, so it is a little unique.
