  • Mk3 Pollen Filter - Removing leaves from surrounds

I tried to clean my pollen filter today and found that there are heaps of leaves around the casing

How do you clean the leaves out of this area?

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Once you've taken off the rain-tray cover, just go at it with your hands?

when removing the rain tray take your time as the clips can be a real mofo and break... once its off you will be able to remove the leaves by hand or maybe hit it with some compressed air if your lazy.... cabin filter is on the passenger side, maybe just replace it as they are not expensive

          Hi Guys

I tried to get the leaves out with my hands but boy is it tight in there...

I'll have another go next weekend, when I have more than an hour to do it before the sun goes down

Yep, the clips are a bugger to remove, haven't broken any yet though

I like the compressed air idea

I vacuumed all the **** out of there. There was a colony of ants living under the raintray.

have a look above where the 2 heater hoses are that run into the car, above that there should be a small vacuum line.... check if that is hooked up

It's a problem with probably all Mk3s now - the foam around the blockers when you turn your fan off has come off, letting air into the cabin. If you've ever had foam blown into your face when your fan is on, then you know it's gone.

I've always wondered what those random bits of foam where haha. Can make you jump when they hit you at night.

i thought the foam around the blockers controlled where the air was directed as in towards the face/feet or windscreen ? i have foam flying in for ages and although when i choose for example the windscreen i can feel air coming out the face vents but i can still stop the fresh air from outside coming in when the blower is not on....

I used a vacuum with the skirt attachment, then plastic baged the filter area and hit it with the hose
