  • Supercharged VR6

Hey everyone, happy new year to all!!!
I have been looking around at various sites about supercharging a VR6, was wondering if there is any riding around? or if anyone here as done it before?
    Is it worth it?

Do it!!! ...and then you tell her.

You need to get in touch with "mk1turbo79", his VR6 was supercharged before he turbo'd it.

A supercharger has been on the cards for my car since the day I got... although of late I'm wondering if it's worth it or if I should just sell up and buy something newer instead.

The VF Engineering SC itself is ~US$4,000 (+shipping) but then you need a chip to run it which means either sending your ECU to the States or going aftermarket. In *very* round numbers I would be budgetting $6k - $10k (and probably at the higher end) before you can drive it.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I've been quoted _at least_ $10k for a running supercharger setup in mien dub by golfwagen. TBH, unless you are a mad keen dubnutter, I dont really see the point.

I've had all the internal work done ready for a supercharger - and yeah, very expensive exercise.
I think if you had a "bolt on" kit with no internal work budget between $5 - $8 depending on brands. With internal work, budget double to be safe
I have been told I'm mental.

I currently have a VF Stage 2 charger fitted to my VR running the 8 psi pulley. Its been running on the stock ECU for a while now and I really haven't seen its true potential.

Soon it will have a dedicated programmable ECU, but even without and running stock injectors it made me swear more than a few times at the urge when its running well. And it's meant to be slow! I really can't wait for the new ECU...

After almost 4 years of ownership, I still get excited to drive my VR.
