Hey Everyone, just got my VR6 yesterday, quite happy with it Just wondering what this little unit showed in the picutres is? It had a little tube attached which has broken off, and i will need to replace/fix ASAP, but just need to know wat it is first? Thanks (Sure its quite a noob question)
thats the pcv valve, pretty common to break on the vr6. Quite expensive to replace as you cant just get that piece but have to get the entire plastic intake thing.
A cheap fix would be to put a breather on the crankcase like I did (ill find a pic in a sec) and block the whole in the intake. Or you could just replace the whole thing with a bit of hose, which is probably more legal (have a feeling the other way isnt) but you may have to clean out the throttle body every now and then.
Theres also a "PCV fix" and other things like that availiable from 42DD
Mine died about six months ago and was replaced with a hose and the hole in the intake was blocked off... done about 10,000 kms since, i pulled the intake off and cleaned the throttle body up the other week and was very suprised at how clean it was in there.... so you should be fine if you decide to replace it with a hose

Yeah, mine was originally replaced with a straight pipe which became brittle and cracked (although to be fair it was just a spare offcut lying around) but then I went the NA route too:
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
Thanks for that guys, it isnt the actual unit that broke, just the little pipe on top, which part of the stem on which it was sitting on broke, but its back on now, will see how it holds. Would a drop of super glue be ok just to join the two plastic components?
