Cant cruise

Anyone had trouble with their cruise control??

Mine worked for the first few times I tried it, but would "drop out" after like 30 secs. Now it just does not work at all.

Cant figure out if a mechanical or electrical problem??

Under the dash, the release valves on the clutch and brake are working ok, and so too the accelorator "pump"..

Vacuum pump under bonnet is all connected, but dont know how to tell if it is working??

Any thoughts?

Control module

It is most probably the control module. It is a hella control module situated behind the headlight switch take it out get a second hand unit and try it. You don't want to think about buying a new one because it is pricey

Yeah I think the cruise module is a bit dodgy. Mine only works occasionally too although once it works it doesn't drop out.

Green Mk3 is on the right track, I'd try and find a second hand unit. I might do the same!

my cruise seems to work ok most of the time but every now and then it will switch its self off. When u go to reset it u can just hear a click coming from behind the dash. sounds like a relay or something. When the cruise is working properly. that sounds cant be heard anymore. if i leave it alone for maybe 30 mins. it then seems to work fine again.

So yeah.. do u get a similar clicking from behind your dash when u try to switch it on?

Tim I get the same noise as you try to turn it o and I get the clicking noise coming from behind the dash

mine died a little while ago too... i've come to accept it, just like the aircon

oh grasshopper, the cruise control module...

did not know that one existed.. could explain why there is no clicking going on behind my dash..

(of course if i had a car manual, i might have found that one, but 3 months later it is still "on order" aghhh)

Same thing dude, went to Canberra on the weekend and it was working fine and then other parts it wasn't

Do you think you can fit a cruise system to a 96' GL?

How easy/hard do you guys reckon it'd be?

My cruise makes all the relay sounds it should, but also doesn't work.

It's on the list of things to fix... way way way down the list, but still on the list

mine makes no noise at all

search vortex there is a busted relay fix DIY on there which doesnt look too hard.

Mine's dead too, I just came to accept it.

Mine works if I have been cruising for about an hour after which I then press it and it works

But it usualy makes a ticking noise
