Just put the VR6 seats I bought from Matt in, wow they make a massive difference, sit so much lower and in a nicer position now, the car actually feels much nicer to drive. Was good to see that the 3 door has all the holes needed to fit the split rear seats, I just need to get one of the brackets that the inner sides of the seat backs fit into where they meet each other as I didn't have one of those in mine

I finally had the oil leak that has been bugging me on the MX5 fixed last week, I'd done a heap of things in the places that they normally leak from but it didn't get rid of it, finally took it to the mechanic that looks after dads cars and once it was on his hoist we thought it was the rear main seal but when he had the box off it turned out to be the sealant that my mechanic mate used when fitting a plate that goes under the seal when I had him do the water pump, oil pump, timing belt, main seal etc before we fitted the turbo kit and put the new engine in the car. Turned out he had used one that goes brittle instead of staying rubbery, it got a big crack in it and oil was gushing out into the gearbox.
Anyway, I put down a big piece of cardboard in the carport so I could park the MX5 above it to make sure it wasn't still dripping any oil but ended up parking the Golf in that spot........... And it appears to have a big bloody leak FML
Today I've degreased the engine and the box casing, I'll give it a couple of days to dry thoroughly then drive it a bit and see where its coming from. I've a feeling it might be the rocker cover gasket, there was a lot of crap on the top of the head but how long it had been there is anyones guessMk3 CL 3 Door

The amount of crud that I could see under that panel that covers the cavity beneath the windscreen has been annoying me since I bought the Golf, so I took it off this afternoon and pulled all the leaf litter and detritus out of the cavity beneath the wiper motors and pollen filter, cleaned all the dirt out of the channel at the base of the windscreen, cleaned the pollen filter and made sure that the drain holes at each end of the cavity weren't blocked. Then I decided that I may as well give everything in the engine bay a wipe-over to get rid of all the grime and **** that was covering everything, now it looks passable, bordering on decent. Also gave the side mouldings/rear spoiler/dash/interior plastics a wipe over with Armorall... I know its not really that good for it in the long run but now its so shiiiiiinyMk3 CL 3 Door

Actually if you put a coat of the that stuff on the trims (say every 2nd wash), after a month or two, the plastic seems to 'absorb' the oil and 'un-perish' itself back into what it was when it was new.Originally posted by Adam_NAclubman View PostAlso gave the side mouldings/rear spoiler/dash/interior plastics a wipe over with Armorall... I was sceptical on my car, but now the bumpers are alway a nice black/dark grey colour, as opposed to being a light grey when I first bought it
.
Of course theres the "foreverblack' stuff.... even kiwi shoe polish works according to one of the MK2 guys

Decided to buy a new bike instead of BBS, bike got stolen two weeks after I bought it, should have bought wheels instead.........
Hopefully I'll have my hubcentric rings this week, but I took some shots of my wheels next to the Mk3 while I was waiting for people to turn up to a cruise this morning

Can't wait to be able to put them on properly nowMk3 CL 3 Door
